"Suzanne" cover with lyrics (Leonard Cohen)

Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
... And you know that she's half-crazy, but that's why you wanna be there/

And she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China/
And just when you mean to tell her that you have no love to give her/
Then she gets you on her wavelength, and she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover...

...And you know she will trust you for you've touched her perfect body/
With your mind...

I teach English major students about song lyrics as poetry but there are some songs that are more poetic because they're written and sung by "real" poets like Leonard Cohen.

So here's my humble version with lyrics.

You may want to search youtube for Cohen's several videos or you may also want to watch other covers like Coldplay's Martin and my favorite cover sung with a beautiful female voice, Northern English accent, and with the last stanza in French here:

Trivia:  Cohen's copyright for this song was stolen from him by a "friend" and this is what he had to say, "I thought it was perfectly justified because it would be wrong to write this song and get rich from it too." :-) :-(
