Breakfast for White-eye Chicks

Just in time.  Adult serving what looks like fruits of a Balete tree (Ficus).  Not really sure.

One of the simple joys of living in the rural town of Manito here in Albay, Philippines is the privilege of watching birds almost up close.  Our place can be a haven for nature-lovers and bird watchers.  If only we could preserve the beauty of the place and keep off water, land, air, and noise pollution.  Far greater life-preserving are the morning chirps of these birds than the almost day and night-long videoke and music of the neighborhood.

I took these photos a few days ago after mother informed me of a small bird's nest perched on her Doña Luz shrub.  I had the convenience of shooting this from the window on the landing of our stairs (widest opening on the 200 mm end).

The 4 chicks were alternately fed by 2 adults.  They are White-eyes, I think.  Mark, please help me identify the bird. :-)

Thank You, Lord, for this reminder of your beautiful creation and provisions at a time when I seem to be too caught up with life's daily concerns.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear...  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? -- Matt. 6:25,27 NIV, Biblegateway
